My brother bought a 04 6. 0 4x4 powerstroke f-350 with 99,760 miles on it and it is bone stock other than exhaust and intake and 6in lift with 35s. I have not seen the truck yet since I'm stationed in MT and he is in MI bought he said it sounds like coolent boiling everytime he gets on it but the sound gets stronger by the intake? I have no clue about 6. 0 powerstrokes other than they have weak head studs and that I would never own one. If anyone knows anything about this please put in your comments even if its a guess cause yours is probably better than mine.

It sounds like coolant is boiling? Are there any other symptoms than a boiling noise? If that's all, I'd probably check to see if I was losing coolant, or maybe getting combustion gasses in the coolant bottle. I wouldn't concern myself too much until I confirmed there was a problem.

If he is losing coolant or getting blowby into the cooling system, the list if suspects is a long one, from hwead gaskets to cracked EGR Coolers.

my wife had a mercury car that did the same thing, it ended up being that the coolant was low. Tell him that he bought a 6 point oh no and he petter plant a money tree.

EGR cooler problem? I know the 6. 0s (when run hard) have a tendency to really heat up the coolant in the EGR cooler, and "flash" the coolant in the degas bottle, causing it to boil.

I told him to see if some codes will pop up on it he said the coolant is good and the sound is only heard if you rev it or when under load and it does it when it starts in the morning when the truck is cold? I wish he would of listened and bought a cummins like I did but I think hes learning the hard and the expensive way.
