Installed a hitch in a '04 Ford F250 tonight. I've known the guy for quite a while and BS'd a while during install. The truck has about 50K on the odometer now and it's on it's second engine--6. 0l PS. The original motor that the truck left the plant with lasted... ... ... ..... are you ready for this... ... ... ... ... 4 miles. The details are a little fuzzy, but from what I gather, it somehow broke the crank, dealer replaced motor pre-delivery without telling buyer, buyer goes to different dealer to have some minor service work done early on, things ain't quite right and dealer #2 discovers cover-up. It's a company truck and I don't think anything more ever happened. No big discounts, buyback, or anything else. Don't know 'bout you, but I'd be seriously upset and I know for sure I wouldn't be driving that truck anymore.

Just thought I'd share a little "feeling good about buying a Cummins" story.

in other words, if she makes it off the lot shes a keeper. bout time for engine #3. thanks, i feel good about my truck now.

We have a TOYOTA distribution center near us. (Commerce Georgia)anyhow I am having a dent repaired in my 98 1500 at a body shop down the street from me. Owner said he gets a few Toyota trucks a year from them that are BENT behind the cab(said always bent in the same spot)that the haulers have bent chaining them down etc. . He rebends them on his frame rack and back they go. This is before their shipped to the dealers of course. I know at DEALER level the few vehicles I got that were BENT I refused delivery!I guess these BENT/REPAIRED Toyo trucks still get shipped to the dealers. I sure woudn't want one. Just had this conversaion yesterday with body shop owner while watching them try to rebend a older Mustang that was BENT in a V near the windshield area. (Dukes of Harzard jump)sometime years ago.

There are lots of things I really like about the SD Fords. My '99 F-350 with the 7. 3 now has over 250k miles on it and is still very reliable, probably the best truck I have ever owned. The cabs are very spacious, you get a live axle in front and the look I like too. What I can not figure out for the life of me is how they sell a single truck with that 6. 0L  Honestly, you would have to be the dumbest truck buyer in the world to buy one. The really scary part is, they sell them like crazy still. Before the '05 Dodge, I was pretty much set on a crew cab F-350 with the new V10 in a King Ranch version. My dealer couldn't find one anywhere, they had all been ordered with the 6. 0L  6-8 weeks to get the only powerplant that makes ANY sense in that truck, bizzare. The owners I talk to readily admit the continuing problems with that engine, AND STILL BUY THE TRUCKS???????? Their brand loyalty, along with the D-max guys, absolutely baffles me. I know there is some blind loyalty here too but geez, at least this IS the best of the three, we are the only ones with a leg to stand on IMO.

BHolm- I agree with you on the 7. 3. We have a F350 single cab long bed with 140k+ and it runs great. It ate a transmission, but the previous owner (had it for 80k) never serviced it. The engine is flawless, and we've never had any issues with it. Runs well as always. Good mileage, too.

We also have a POS 6. 0 F450 12' flatbed. 10. 8mpg unloaded, injectors (1 or 2) replaced, new turbo (25k miles), new exhaust backpressure sensor (???) at 30k miles due to lack of power. It only allowed the truck to make 17psi of boost. 31k now and slowly counting. I can't wait to see what's next. We also have another guy here with a 6. 0 F250 supercab with multiple injector replacements, and a check engine light that won't go away. Ford says they're aware of it, but do not have a flash/update to remove the problem.
