Archived 04 No Start, Cranking Over Strange

Got An 04 That Cranks Over Like An Engine That Is Out Of Time, Will Not Start. Good Fuel Pressure To The Injection Pump. Truck Has Had A Slight Miss Lower Rpm's For Quite A While, Higher Rpm's (normal Driving) Miss/stumble Goes Away. Will A Bad Injector (or Multiple) Cause An Engine To Crank Over This Way? Driver Saw A Puff Of White Smoke And Heard A "ticking Noise" When The Truck Quit. Has Not Started Since. Any Help Appreciated.

Need more info on truck , also check for codes , what do you mean by eng out of time ?
Out of time , to me , means that the eng spins fast , no compression .
Maybe some one will recognize your description .

might be a rail pressure popoff stuck open. Can you smell the fuel just no start.

and if it is the bad news, about 550. 00 for a new one. ouch #@$%!

any codes? Sounds a lot like mine last winter... culprit was a bad cam position sensor.
