The remaining 03s are so picked over I'm thinking of just ordering a 04. Dealer says not taking orders before about August. Also is there a place that better explains what each option code consist of. Kelly Blue Book is great but un-sure about how to put all the options together. Want to make sure to get under dash wiring for brake control and big mirrors. Also if you do not want leather seats it appears you can't order the convenience group. I'm guessing the 04 will be same as 03 on KBB.

I found the Dodge web site to be pretty helpful when "building" my truck as far as what was available goes. I have no idea when they will post the '04 information.

my local dealer says july 14 is when he can start making orders for the 04's and expects a delievery time for sept/oct. since i am in canada, it may be different for you all down south of the border. when order time comes, i will purchase a pricing list from car cost canada. they offer pricing lists that state all the option codes and what the msrp price is and what the dealer cost is, as well as any incentives / deals. it costs $25. 00 plus tax [cdn funds] for the basic price list, or $75. 00 + tax for their premium plan, which has them get their best price for you from their selected dealers, and if you can get it cheaper than their price, they will try to get it $100 less than your price. if they can't, after you get delievery of your vehicle, they will refund you the $50 that the premium package costs...

I ordered an 04 last Monday. I tried to find an 03 but I guess i'm too picky. All done by computer(at the dealer). I have my vehicle order # and a printout of option codes. I got the Laramie package and had to get the sport group to get the aluminum wheels. :)

FWHITE, what is the deal on the aluminum wheels? All the info from the '03 specs show the wheels as part of the Laramie pkg. Did they change it for '04? Did they have the new prices yet or is that coming? I am getting ready to order an '04 soon, still working on my option list.

Oh, forgot the original question. The under dash wiring comes with the trailer pkg. You just wire the pig tail that comes with the pkg to your brake controller and plug it in. Order the trailer tow mirrors to get the big mirrors. Have you decided on what gear ratio you are going with? I am still pondering that one. We have mountain passes to deal with out here so I am leaning toward a 4. 10.

Ordered my 04 today in Canada eh

Dealer was on the phone with me taking down the options and everything was pretty much the same as 03'.

Is the rear window defroster an option in 03'?

It is in 04's.

While we were putting the order together he checked and sure enough he was good to go to place the order... in Canada.

Hope it gets here before freeze up. heheh

:p

kompressor, according to the information we had, even with the Laramie package the truck came with chrome plated steel wheels. I had bad luck with the wheels on my 95 12 valve(steel). My wife got aluminum wheels with the sport package on her 01 HO 6 speed and they have been great.

I went by the dealer to add a bug deflector to the truck and it was in C status already so we could't change anything. The dealer didn't have prices on anything yet. The GPS radio is an option and I got it.

FWhite,

Don't worry about the bug deflector. I just put one on my son's 1500 HEMI, it was color matched and just attaches with four plastic screws into predrilled holes. It takes 5 - 10 minutes to put on and is the same as the factory "hood protection shield".

I will probably stick with the 3. 73 gears. Tell you what though; the 2003 with 3. 73 turns lower RPM at 70 than my 1999 with 3. 54. Have checked mine against two 2003. They turn about 2000 RPM and I'm turning ~2300 RPM. Guess the circumference of 265 x 17 is longer than 245 x 16 to make up for gearing.

Dean: Thank you for the information on the bug deflector. These are the codes from my order sheet: 2BH Laramie package; ETH HO engine; DEE 6 speed; AGG sport appearance group; AHC trailer tow group; CMA heated front seats; GFA rear window defroster; DSA anti-spin rear axle (2 wheel drive); NHK engine block heater (it's not standard anymore); and RB4 is AM/FM/CD/GPS Navigation radio. Frank

I don't tow much. The standard mirrors worked fine for me the few times I've pulled something with my 95. My wife dosen't even have a hitch on her truck. I think she's afraid her brother would want to borrow it to pull his race car. She is adamant about not putting one on. Frank

Order them anyway, she will not even know they fold up and down, or in and out. Unless someone takes the time to show you it is very difficulot to tell they are on.

No Block Heater???

In my opinion, taking the heater out of the diesel package is a real dumb move. But I'm sure some bean counter at DC got a pat on the back. With the intelligence of a lot of sales people out there, some unsuspecting first time diesel buyer will not get the heater option and complain about how crappy the Cummins sounds when started at 30 below. That heater makes it a lot nicer for my engine and me.
