This morning my truck made a ticking noise when first started? I haven't started the truck in about 4 days. It had rained last nite and was lightly raining when I started it. The ticking sound was coming from behind the radio. At first I thought it was ticking from a blower fan clicking on something.

The noise stopped after about 5 seconds. I do have a transferflow system do you think the sound was just transfering some how to behind the radio for what ever reason. I don't recall hearing this sound from that area before. Will keep my ear ready for it next time I start truck in a few days.

Anyone have an idea of what it could be?

Thanks, Bill

I have the GPS NAV single CD radio in mine and it's had a few problems. It resets itself one in a while and it also started making a fast ticking sound when turned on if a CD was left inside it. It sounds like the CD spinning and something hitting on the mechanism inside. Sometimes it does it for a few seconds, sometimes it does it constantly until I shut the radio off and turn it back on again. It's definitely a CD problem in my case.

Did you have a CD in the radio at the time?

You may have the answer to my problem Please tell me more.

I think the Nav CD may be inserted I don't recall as I don't usually listen to CD's. I have the infinity speakes and the whole pkg and I just listen to talk radio. Sound system came with truck that had the NV5600 transmission I wanted

There's nothing more to tell. It does it on mine (not every time but about 1/2 the time) when a disc is left in it. It doesn't matter if it's a music CD or the NAV CD. You could try a cleaning CD maybe to see if that'll fix it. I planned on just taking it in for warranty coverage to have it replaced. With as many problems as peolpe have posted with the radios, I don't have much confidence that a new radio won't do it too so I've just been living with it.

Castanets?

The sound appeared to be coming from the dash area right behind the volume knob of the radio.

I have heard a clicking noise coming from somewhere behind the dashboard and it sounds more like a quick snapping sound of 5 or 6 snaps in quick succession. I have the Infinity sound system but I turned the radio off and the snapping continued with the engine running at all speeds at no particular interval. Does anybody have a clue? Maybe it's just one of those things.

It is certainly the radio

My RB4 radio started doing the same thing :( . But as luck would have it, just after the truck bumper to bumper warranty ran out.

Has anyone found a fix yet?

What is most upsetting, is that if you are listening to the CD, it resets back to the first track, and then if you want to use the GPS navigation, you have to re-load the GPS CD.
