05' Air Intake system

Air intake tube 05' between air canister and turbo,can this junk inbetween be pulled out and still use the exterior of it?It' a canister with a cross section in it and the 90 has this plastic direction chute. hahaha anyways wondering if taking this out will help the flow?http://www.tdr1.com/forums/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=127#

Some believe turbulence impedes the turbo, and leave it in. Some imagine its removal enhances flow and saw it out. I want to know if D. C. / Cummins engineered it just for fun and had no idea what they were doing. I think not. Same logic applies to the 'silencer ring'. I'm not an engineer, only an opinionated cracker.

I think it is to reduce noise. I switch to AFE stage II and I get more noise and much smoother power.

And I did NOT want to HEAR that noise and have left mine alone. Afe Stage 1
