I have an "05 ctd all stock bought new july of 05 with 25700 miles on it now

and am writing to see if any one has experience with the following problems:

- Since day 1 it has occasionally missed at idle. sitting at a stoplight in drive

with foot on brake or in park it will occasionally miss. at 1 stop light it might miss 1 time; at the next light it might not miss and at the next light it might

miss 4 times. It also does this at idle in my shop.

- when I first bought the truck I was getting 17 to 18 mpg on the I-state @

70-75 mph. That has now dropped off to 13 - 15 mpg.

All suggest services (ie filters, etc. ) have been done on time or slightly ahead of schedule.

Has any one experienced similiar performance?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

First off, welcome to the TDR!

I find that running Howe's "Meaner Power Cleaner" in every tank helps with the rough idle and quiets the engine too. I also believe (but can't prove 100%) that it helps with mileage too.

Apparently, these 3rd Gen engines are prone to clogging injectors.

If you try Howe's, run a double-dose for the first couple of tanks. After that, use the normal dose.

Some have had good luck with a product called "Sea Foam", as well.

I have found that pulling 10K or so for 50 miles about 70 miles per hour will help or running up to about 110mph for 10 miles or so will do it. I have never seen an engine that just demands you drive it like you stole it to keep it performing.

This might help
