I would not have believed it if I had not seen it with my own eyes! A few weeks ago I was coming up a slight grade approaching a traffic light. As I am waiting in the line of cars, I notice that they start going around a LOADED tri-axle dump truck that was broke down. A cop arrived shortly and was directing traffic around the truck. As I approched the rear of the dump to go around, a red dually, (Cummins of course), pulls around and backs up to the dump. I'm thinking, Is he doing what I think he is doing? Sure enough, he gets out and grabs a chain from his tool box and starts to hook up. Just then, the cop signals me to go around. I shake my head no. He comes over and says, Let's go! I say, "I'm not going anywhere. I wouldn't miss this for the world!" He smiled and said ok. As we are talking the dodge has taken up the slack in the chain, and is slowly building boost. I was wondering if the trans. would roll out from under the dodge. :-laf Just then it starts smoking ALL SIX TIRES! The dump then very slowly starts to move, UPHILL, along with the DODGE! I was in shock! I kept saying NO S*** . The cop said Yeah, I can't believe it either! So, he pulls it about 3 blocks onto the shoulder. As I go by , I blow my horn and give him the thumbs up. He gets out of his mighty steed, Gives me a nod of approvel, and pats the top of the bed rail as he goes to unhook. Sorry about the length of the story. Hope you guys enjoyed it. I know I did! Oo.

That's exactly why I have to keep my digital camera in the truck AT ALL TIMES. Sweet story. I don't really think the guy needed to spin all 6. 4Low should easily move a dump truck. Still a cool story though. :D

A few times I've pulled loaded semis up to the Flying J fuel pumps off Hickman Road in Des Moines. Low lock 4x and a little slip and then everything starts to move. I don't know if I could get one going on gravel or dirt, the pavement has much more traction.

Very good report on the event. Sounds almost like you could write commercials for ford/chevy!! :-laf

after a good story like that you can lump powerstrokes & duramax's in with the other girly cars like mazda miatas & volkswagen rabbit convertibles. i even heard a rumor chevy is integrating a vase in the dashes of the '07's for flowers

Back in 1980 when I was driving triaxles in Erie PA, the GMC I was driving broke a drive shaft at an intersection. My boss came our with his 1975 W250 Power Wagon and pulled me clear, load and all. Wasn't uphill though, just flat.

my father has a story about his '91 and a loaded semi on icy roads, He was headed to town one morning and the roads were glare ice. He was following a semi that was in turn following a car. the car was putting along and the semi couldn't get a run at the hill, so he made it about 1/2 way to the top before he was stopped. Dad pulled around and hooked up, Dad couldn't move him until he got the '91 on the shoulder in the frozen gravel and then there was no stopping until the top! These trucks are unstoppable IF they can get traction!
