05 Durango Interior Lighting Issue.

My wife has a unique issue with her '05 Durango and I am looking for help on this.



The interior lights that come on when you open a door do not come on at all. This started all of a sudden several months ago. Ever since then, here is what happens when you open the door. The interior lights will not come on but the 4lo, 4hi, and Service 4wd lights in the instrument cluster do come on and the door ajar light comes on as well. Also, since this started, none of the interior overhead lights cannot be turned on via the individual switches on the lights.



Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have no idea where to start and I don't want to take it to a dealer that knows less than I do and charges $60+ / hour.

Check for bad chassis ground and make sure the battery terminals are all clean and tight. If that doesn't help, check the wiring harnesses closest to heat sources first for any melting and work your way around. Check for rodent damage. Check all the relays for proper operation and any fuses or corrosion. Also check the plugs to the EMC/PCM/computers you can find.
