I've ordered an egt gage and pillar and I'm trying to decide what to do with the exhaust. I want to do anything that will enhance towing performance without reducing reliability. Since the whole system appears to be 4" I'm looking to change the muffler, which I hear is restrictive, and possibly install a converter test pipe if there is anything to gain from it. I'm looking for advice/suggestions. Thanks Jeff

I installed the aeroturbine minus the cat and it was too loud after a couple of weeks. I just installed a dynomax race welded muffler after the aero and I love it. I would've done this from the beginning had I known. Nice deep tone, and I can hear the engine and turbo again... . and my cell phone.

Exactly what you said, ditch the muffler and add pipe to keep your tailpipe. Sounds good and lowers egts. You might notice faster spoolup but that is about it.

I'm considering this too. Geno's has the pipe kit for $100 and that really appeals to me. I'm a little concerned it will be too loud with just the CAT. Thoughts on the decibles? Also -- does the stock muffler come off w/o cutting?

I replaced my restrictive muffler with a Flowmaster, sounds great, at the same time as the muffler I added a K&N FIPK. The turbo spools up much quicker now.

I recently lost the kitty, it just ran off. Anyways I am total str8 pipe now and although I like the sound it is loud, but the good thing is it can be quiet if I want it to be. When I lost the muffler all I did was cut slits in it, where there was a crimp to loosen it up. When I had just kitty and tailpipe, it sounded good, but I wanted the most egt reduction I could get. I also cut my factory hangers off the muffler and welded them on the new pipe I used.

the flowmaster was a straight through design and was about 6" shorter than the stocker, the muffler shop added the 6" in for me.
