Does anybody know if there would be any conflict when putting an 04. 5-05 HO head on a standard VP44 24 valve?? Just wanted to check before I went on a search and bought something that wouldn't work. Thanks in advance for the help guys.

Wont work. Going by memory there is an issue with the fuel line fittings at the head and also the fuel connectors.

Also there is no place to install the map and iat sensors in the common rail head.

A P-Pumped CR motor has been done with good results.

Which truck are you referring too. The truck that I know of, I wouldn't classify it as good results. I think he trashed about 5 or 6 ppumps on it.

What About Putting A 24v Head On A Cr Block And A P Pump. Would That Work

The CR already has a 24V head :-laf :-laf :-laf

Ted Sterner from Power House diesel can do the P pump but its a bunch of work and custom parts.

Excellent point. Did He ever finalize a price for the conversion? I assume you can run 98-02 injectors in the CR head??

I wanted to bring this back up, We are trying to put a CR head on a 2nd gen VP truck, I already have the IAT and MAP figured out. As far as the lines? Has anyone been able to make lines and tubes work with the old VP44. Is anything else different? Head studs? Head gasket?

Any help would be great. Cummins gave us a head that was boxed wrong and my buddy spent a ton of money to have it ported. Now I find out it's for a CR. He need's it to work on an 01 VP truck.

After putting a head gasket next to the head we could see the oil passages are different, so i assuming this wont work. Anyone tried this ?

I think were going to make it work. After further review the passages all seem to line up pretty well. With some minor modifications i think they will work. We got CR fuel lines and tubes to mate up to the VP44 and the gasket seems to line up fine.

Well its back together and seems to run very strong. The only problem now is the fuelines we had made with CR fittings on one end and VP44 fittings on the other are not holding together. the "silver sodered" swedge fittings on the CR side seem to keep leaking.

We took it back apart and re sodered with a higher % of silver soder and those seem to be working much better.
