Hey guys, my dad's looking at buying a brand new Ram, but we've heard of some poor mileage from the '05's, averaging around 16-14. On the flip side I know of some 04's and 05's with 6-guns and other chips that are getting good mileage, around 22-25. Any input?

05 2500 SWB SRW Quad Cab 2wd getting 19mpg city 22-23 hwy. aFe PG7 with TT and MBRP muffler with cat still in place. 3. 73 gears

the key is in the fueling boxes. you can usually pick up 2-3 mpg if you are driving like normal and not using the extra power. Mine went from 18. 5 to 21. 5 when I added the tst.

Exactly ;)

I just drove from Utah to Penna. , held 70mph for the entire trip and got 18. 9, the truck only had 7,500 miles when I left. Jeff

20. 5 at 65 to 70mph highway. 17. 5 combined around town, highway. Truck has done this from day one now have 14,000 mi on her. I would not take my 2001 back. Luv my third gen.

15-18mpg around town depending on lead-foot syndrome. Got 21. 1mpg on a recent road trip with cruise set at 67mph. MPG starts to drop off beyond 72mph. The truck had 9000 miles on it when it got 21. 1mpg and is totally stock.

I get 14-16 City, but I have a short commute so it's barely warmed up... . On the freeway, I get about 16-19 going between 70-90mph... ... I'm sure it gets better if you keep your foot out of it, accelerate like a 95 yr old, or stay below 65 mph..... but who wants to do that!

If I baby her, I get about 20-21 in the city, and 18-19 on the highway, haven't driven much with the six-gun, so probably will get better! :D

It's largely going to depend on gearing (if the truck is stock). I recently made a 500 mi trip and averaged 15. 5 doing mostly 70-75. I see 19-20 in areas where the speed limit is 45-55. Considering that I have DRW w/auto and 410's, it's pretty much what I expected. With only 3000 miles on it, I'm sure it's going to get better with loosening up and have already noticed a . 5 mpg increase. I seriously doubt you'll see mileage approaching 20 @ 70 mph with 410's without some mods.
