Installing short shift--as we speak!! Had heard others were adding (2) qts extra fluid thru the shift tower?
thanks, Rocky
thanks, Rocky

I would say adding extra oil to the NV5600 would be a bad thing. . . the extra oil would retain heat(unless you had the coolers) and would cause airation of the oil and cause it not to protect as well.
when I refilled my NV5600 I'll admit I did add a little extra (less than a quart). . . but that was just so I could throw the bottle away![]()
I think I found my answer--found a thread about NOT to over fill---will maintain factory specks--thanks all, R
Rocky in KC,
Where did you find the NOT to over fill thread?

In post #5, I did a search and found the Steved--had done a little research on it!! I installed short shift, and TOMMYGUN--Hurst shifter yesterday--LOVE it---thanks again Tommy![]()
PS in the post on heavy haulers, I do remember NOW--reading it in the TDR--but I do not pull THAT heavy, nore do I pull for a living--and I just thought better of it (over-filling!!)-my 02cents
Don't take what I posted for the "norm" because I seem to be either the only one who ever had a before/after reading with a guage or the only one it has ever happened to... I have never seen or heard of anyone posting up results that match mine...
I might try normal filling again, getting a baseline on new fluid, then overfilling to determine if what I saw is reproduceable.
