05 Tow Mirrors on 02??

I am finding it rather hard to find a set of towing mirrors for my 02, so I started to wonder if the 05 (seem to be the same mirrors) mirrors will fit my 02?

You need flip up tow mirror bases for a second gen. truck to make them work on your '02. The arms and heads from an '03 power set can be modified to mate up with the older bases. There are great instructions on how to do it on other threads. Bases from a wrecked truck is a good idea that can save you money if you can find them.

Are the bases somthing I could make? I have moderate sheet metal and welding skills...

My dad has a 3G with the mirrors I may use them for a test fit.

It's more than just a mounting point. The bases include the pivot cylinder for the arm to mount to (and a channel that houses ball bearings). If you look at the other threads about this and see the pics, you'll see why you probably wouldn't be able to duplicate the bases very easily - if at all.

Along with the mechanical aspects such as the pivot and what not, there is a considerable amount of design and testing to ensure minimal noise and vibration, door panel stress, etc...

No.

You will need a set of 2nd gen TOW mirrors and a set of 3rd gen TOW mirrors.
