2005 3/4T automatic, 140K

Transmission isn't consistent with shifting.
At times it shifts fine thru the gears, other times it will start to drop into 2nd and/or 3rd but slips till I back off of the throttle.
I had a transmission shop check it out a year ago (not my daily driver) and they said it was toast, drive it till it died. It hasn't changed, hasn't gotten worse or better.
Drove it today and three stop lights it shifted fine, the next two it would slip going into 2nd until I throttled back.

Frustrating to say the least.

Anybody have any thoughts or is it just needing rebuilt?

Thanks

No, have only towed a 16' flatbed trailer a couple of times. No upgrades, bone stock.

I didn't know if the Throttle Positioning sensor or something similar would make it do odd things. I had a '99 that would behave oddly till I replaced the TPS.

I used to be a member and life kinda got in the way..........trying to get back into the TD groove again.

:)

Hmmmm probably at 100K if I remember right....possibly at 80K. It doesn't get driven much so I tend to forget what's what.

I believe I have the same truck and problem at the same 140K. Did you do what AllianceDiesel recommended;("I would do a filter, band adjustment, put a upgraded governor pressure solenoid and governor pressure sensor in. Its worth a shot.") and did it solve the problem????

I changed the governor sensor and solenoid and fluid. It worked ok but still slipped between 1st & 2nd. I lived with it for a while then adjusted the front band.....this made a world of difference. No slipping and shifts good.
Believe I'll go ahead and change fluid, filter and adjust both bands in the near future.
