Hi guys just a quick question, My truck has approx 18000 miles on it and today after driving 3 hours at 75-80 mph back from Banff. I noticed when I got into town and had to start and stop at intersections etc that my truck seemed to have more *torque* and the transmission was shifting when necessary and not doing the 5am gear search on my way to work in th morning.

Anybody else experience this? is this the result of a broken -in cummins?

Or is this the ecm learning my highway driving and will be returnin to its city driving self in the near future after it has relearned my driving style.

thanks in advance for the feedback and I look forward to hearing all your responses.

IMHO, the trucks seem to "clean up" when driven hard once in a while..... if you take them out and work them by towing heavy or haulin rear end, i think it cleans them out and they run better.....

If you drive a lot of city, every once in a while, take it somewhere and get on it... couple of 0-100 sprints or a bit of sustained high speed as you mentioned...

Both my 05 and 06 seemed to respond well to this.

FYI, it's 100* in phoenix right now, pack light!... . and slow down when you get into phoenix, they're traffic / speed nazi's...

Just going to take our time on the way down with 3 night stopovers on the trip down and the same for the trip back.

Going down to see the "Subway Fresh" race and spend sometime with the inlaws.

Mine certainly started pulling better in the 15-18k range. Shifting is another thing though. In TH it usually won't downshift 4-3 until it gets below 46mph. The other day though it downshifted at 55 several times towing 5 tons at moderate throttle. I thought it had "fixed" itself! Didn't last long though. Now again I have to downshift it manually or mash it too hard to get it to downshift. Sometimes It will drop below 1200 rpm without downshifting on its own. At that rpm you know it ain't no 12V! Dealer says it is "normal".

In the bigger scheme of things I am saving for a goerend TC and Valvebody for my truck next year. I am hoping that will help the stock "shifting" issues it currently has. Should also hold my edge juice/atitude in check. That will be the maximum power upgrades I plan on doing untill truck is paid so I am hoping those transmission upgrades (including larger transmission pan) should suffice.
