I just bought a new to me 06 3500 4X4 with the G56. The truck had 155k miles put on in 1year. My question is, what do I need to check first. I know all fluids need changing, but I've never owned a G56 truck, what should I do with it? Truck drives like it is new, and I would like to keep it that way. BTW, these G56's are night and day better as far as driveability over the old NV5600's!

Thanks

Corey

Change all the fluids then you have a starting point for yourself. Might want to get the valves adjusted-check the brakes. Beyond that enjoy the truck-you should see another 2 or 3 hundred thousand out of her.

Write the VIN down and go to your nearest dealer, a service writer can run the VIN through their computer and show the complete service history as well as TSB's.

If the previous owner has ever had any work done at any dealer (anywhere) the history will show.

If the old owner had work done at dealer A it will not show at dealer B. Warranty work(work paid by Chrysler) will for a certain amount of time. Use to be 2 years. Recalls that need to be done or were done will. But TSB's will only show on the techs system. Not at the sales floor or service writer. Each dealer is hooked into Chrysler but each dealers IN house system is a stand alone.

how could you do so many milies in one year? kp

06's have been out for over 2 years total now... that only comes out to like 1500 miles a week. Even its only 12 months old, thats 3,000 a week... 2 days of driving time for some of us! :-laf Lonestar, what was the build date of your truck?

Had a pair of mares delivered to me from Nebraska and truck was a 06 with 28k on the speedo. Truck owner said he had truck 34 days! Left me and was heading to Myrtle Beach before stopping for the night.

Lonestar,

When your tires get worn down a little do you just go get another truck??? Or are the tires on the Mega still new yet???

I hate buying tires!!! I am actually selling the Mega due to my needs for a more workable truck. I cant bring myself to use my 40+k megacab to haul loads to the dump and some of the various things I have to do. So, I am selling my MegaCab, and going to a workhorse for awhile.

I will definitely get oil samples sent off. Other than that, the truck has one small oil leak coming from the drivers side of the block and that is all I can find wrong.

Thanks!!!

Corey
