06 5.9L cruise control engages and sets itself randomly

Hi, my 06 crew cab 3500 5.9 has an issue where the cruise control light comes on and off, and then periodically sets itself as you are driving down the road.

I had the cluster repaired for a tach problem recently, the tech wasn't sure of the fix for the cruise problem, he suggested it was in the Ecm.

The truck needs new batteries, I read somewhere that a bad battery could make an ecm act funny.

Any suggestions?

You might need to replace the sensor in the rear end. I've had a similar problem and that fixed it. It is just a magnet that read the speed of the rear end.
