06 Blower Fan making grinding noise.

Well, I installed a set of ATS compounds. The wastegate was rubbing the a/c line to the condenser, I figured it wouldnt be a big deal, so I stuck a piece of rubber between the two and zip tied it to the a/c line. Well, when I turn on the heater, I get this nasty refridgerant smell. So I get out and look, find the rubber slipped off and the wastegate rubbed a hole right through the a/c line. So now when I turn on the blower fan inside to max, it sounds like its hitting something. It doesnt do it on 1,2, or 3. Just 4. Any idea's guys? Maybe the a/c line got moved enough to damage something inside the cab?

a common problem thats happening on the 06's right now is the recirculation door is breaking at the pivot point..... Might be an idea of whats wrong...

The dealer mechanic said it's the blend door pivot. Still haven't fixed it yet.

Its actually the recirculation door that seperates the fresh air from the recycled air..... It really an easy fix... . Although the service manual says that in order to service the recirculation door air inlet housing must be removed... . My local dealership told me same thing... . I beg to differ... . I fixed mine in a matter of 10 minutes or so..... Very easy fix.....

Putting in the new door... ... . Let me go get my old door and get a pic of what broke on it... if its your door that broke... .



One way to find out is for one you will hear more than normal turbo noise inside the cab and two you can switch back and forth from recyled air to fresh air and you wont hear the difference... .



The pics below show what and where most of the are breaking..... And when they do that small piece there falls down into the fan blower craddle and either rattles or vibrates the floor of the truck.....

mine is too... but i am out of warrenty now. . before i was out of warrenty, i complained and their response was no defect found. . oh well. . my defrost works ok. i don't care if the recirculation works or not, but the defrost must work!
