06 front brake question. I was doing about 55 mph had to hit brakes hard in stopped traffic. 1st time hard braking with this truck. The thing pulled hard to the right, I was about 1/4th way into right lane before recovering. Lucky no other vehicle there. Any ideas as to why. I thought four wheel disk brakes would not have this kind of problems. Have only 5K on the truck.

I always start with the easy stuff. Have you checked tire pressure on all four? I run 55psi front/52psi rear when empty. Was there any type of crown on the road? Could be possible there's air in the line from the factory?

I too start with the easy stuff, tire pressure can have a GREAT effect on brakeing. Also, as wcjp pointed out, crown on the road? Lines need bled?

There was a recall on the 2006's for ABS - did you get your truck in for the recall? or did your dealership take care of it before selling you the truck? It may be that this has something to do with your problem.

In any event, I would check tire pressures and if they are OK I would then be into the dealership with it, brakeing is nothing to ignore and could very well cause an accident. Getting 1/2 way into the next lane could have caused one.

PSI was 46 right front. 56 PSI other three. Have not cheeked for some time but I run 60 PSI front 55 rear empty. I sure let that slip but don't know if that would make it pull. Road was flat and I get no pulling under normal brake. Also what is this brake recall? Don't know anything about that. Will up tire PSI and find an open road to test again.

I run 65 front and 50 rear empty.

That 10 lb difference sure will have a big effect on your braking.

Also you say the road was flat. No road is flat. They are crowned (high in the center) for water run-off. Some are more noticeable than others, but none are flat. The crown is to the right as you drive (unless your in England) and can cause a pull without braking.

Tire psi may be a good call. Put 60 psi and could not make it pull to right after several tries of hard brake. Will need to keep looking at that tire. Can't find a nail but it sure dropped pressure.

I forgot to mention this in my earlier post, actually thought of it a little while ago when I was checking my tire pressures, Saturday thing. There have been some problems with valve stems also, not just the duallys but the SRW's too. I had 2 bad valve stems, tires started loosing air, right around 5-6K, both were on the right side. Went into the dealership for something else but mentioned the air loss stuff, they sent me to their tire guy who put in 5 new valve stems under warranty. He told me they had replaced a ton of them, all under warranty. No TSB regarding them, must have been some kind of service memo?

check where the zerk fitting is right next to the brake rotor. A little over zealous grease job might of put some grease on your rotor.

I would ask for steel valve stems. I am leary about the rubber ones running at higher psi's.

I will just throw this out there. Assuming that any mechanical settings/conditions (pressure, temperature, valve stems, grease on rotor, recalls) are NOT the cause of the pulling.....

I have had to make a few hard stops in my truck, thanks to the wonderful drivers out there. I have had NO issue with it pulling. Untill, one morning, i had a deer walk out that was interested in playing chicken with me. The truck pulled to the right like CRAZY, damn near into the ditch before i got things straightened out (deer lived... . ). I did the normal check on pressure once i got to work, and at lunch got on the brakes hard, no pulling. Next morning, with no one behind me, i jumped on the brakes in the same spot (best i could guess) as where i had the day before, truck pulled to the right! The crown on the road there is noticeable, because of over travel (rte 2 in northern Ohio, with eveyrone and there brother headed to and from cedar point). My truck pulls there if i have to stop fast, hasnt done it anywhere else. Alright, that was way to long of a "my two cents" comment.

I would check the valve stems by pushing them back and forth because they split where the mushroom connects to the stem. If it fails it will be almost like having a blowout. I would check it and not just keep an eye on it because with no other signs of any other problem the split in the valve stem is pretty likely.
