Used pistons needed for project

New tires and wheels

Sitting at a stoplight in Salt Lake City the other night and a brand new Charger Daytona pulled up next to me. I couldn't resist :D . So when the light turned green we both punched it and he kept up with me thru the intersection and then I hit 3rd and left him in the smoke. Once I hit about 65 in a 35 I backed off and by that time he was way behind me. At the next light he got into the farthest lane possible and stayed about 3 car lengths behind me. :-laf I guess he must have been too embarassed to try again.

Sorry, I just had to share. I thought it was cool.

I only say this because I have the baby brother to the 6. 1L Charger (a 5. 7L Hemi Magnum) and a undoubtedly a more powerful 5spd equiped truck than yours. Now, the LX platform cars have a 5 speed automatic and an electronic stability package (traction control). The 6. 1L Charger has a 425hp Hemi. Stock they run mid 14's. Out of the hole against a Puller66 equiped 12v 5spd? I think there is nary a chance of you "beating" him through the intersection. Except for one thing, maybe he was'nt racing! LOL

He probably more likely (not trying hard) kept up with you until he saw the huge smoke cloud coming at his "Brand New" car and let off to avoid it, thus the lane change and holding back at the next light.

only the srt8's get the 6. 1L hemi & the daytona has the 5. 7

and I could see it slc is at 6000 ft. thats about 18% power loss for the hemi.

being that, my statement still holds true... I doubt the Charger was racing him.

I have one of each of these vehicles. The car doesnt play well with the truck until mid 3rd gear in the truck when i get some good boost, then its bye bye Hemi. He has 35inch tires and 4:10:1 gears which is basically a wash in comparison to my 3:54:1 and 30inch tires.

a puller66, 370's and 17* of timing he's probably pushing 400-425 horse to the wheels. I've got over 550 and my 5. 7 Hemi can still take me out of the hole with it.

Of course that 6. 1 would probably have beat me. The Daytona only has the 5. 7 350 hp. He was racing and on my left so I don't think he was just afraid of a little smoke on the paint. And I doubt he would be doing 65 in a 35 if he wasn't racing. To make it better the intersection was a two lane left turn, him in the left(inside) lane and me in the right lane so he had a shorter distance to keep up with me. I guarantee he went home with a little buyer's remorse! Shoulda got the SRT/8! :-laf

I'm not sure. I dynoed another setup exactly like mine with a HTB2/62 @ 460hp to the wheels. I've got to be a little more than that!

It has to say something when a guy in a Bully Dogged out Powerstroke pulls me over and offers to buy my truck because I kicked the crap out of his truck that he just spent who knows how much $$$$$ on. :-laf

If it has a different turbo then its NOT exaclty like yours and you cant go by that number? I havent seen any dyno numbers with the intermediate mods you have with a puller66 so maybe you do have upwards of 500hp. I guess I really dont/shouldnt care, but I just hate misinformation where ever its coming from. Why do you think the puller66 has "got to be a little more"? you weren't on a Dyno you did a second gear launch, with a zero plate, a bigger wheel (66) and a larger exhaust housing (14)! that adds up to laggy-overfueling-overboost then hurry up and shift to me, until you can stretch your legs more in 4th and 5th.

Around a turn 65 in a 35, maybe he just backed out of it faster than the idiot next to him? but heh, OK, good bag, you beat a Hemi!

YOUR JUST JEALOUS IT WASN'T YOU :-laf by the way mine was the other setup (minus the 4gsk at time of dyno) and we race every chance we get and i could pull away from smokin monster that was with the htb2 we havent raced since i got my sledpuller yet and i have 3 in. smaller tires

I dunno about the Chargers, maybe they are heavier then the Magnums. But a buddy of mine ran 13. 8 in a stock R/T magnum.

SLC sits around 4300 ft. not 6000. And how would this change in altitude not hurt the 12v? I know I sure could use the denser air in my 24v. Or is that yet another reason why everyone thinks the 12v's are better?

altitude changes really only affect naturally assperiated(sp) engines. An engine with turbo or supercharger adds pressurized air thereby elliminating thin air problems with altitude.

So in theory, If I typicaly see say 30psi of boost for 100% of throttle, I should see 35psi at 6000feet?

And the reason for this is the air is thinner, thus easier for the turbo to spin to a faster RPM (thinner, less-massy air, less friction)

Maybe some people don't know how to use their 550 hp! Besides, calling me an idiot doesn't prove your point. I was there, you were not. Maybe he did back off sooner, maybe because he was getting his "you know what" handed to him and he was embarrassed. Are you going to tell me that all those Duramaxes and FlowerPokes I beat weren't racing either? What about all the sledpulling trophies I have? Were the others not really pulling? Some of them dynoed higher than I did or am I just an idiot for thinking that I won because they handed ME the trophy? Hmmmmmm?

:--)

You're kidding right?

Tell that to all the Nitro dragsters that run about 40 mph slower EVERY year in Denver at Bandimere. Tell me why my truck dyno's so much higher at may madness in Vegas then it does here in SLC? I could go on for days about this, but I won't. You're completely wrong on this one and I just don't see how you could think thinner air in ANY instance can be better. I'd love to live at sea level, but i'd sure miss the mountains a lot.
