The way the article is written, the diesels are moving to St. Louis, and the Saltillo plant will begin producing a "four-door crew-cab truck in August".

But... . does this mean that these new Saltillo trucks will not have diesel engines???? :(

My buddy sells DC electric tools to the Fenton plant said they the workers are talking about Dodge moving diesel production up here. I would be happier buying one made in the states. besides delivery would be better i only live 20 miles from there.

From the same article in today's Detroit News, "Chrysler declined to disclose which new models will land in Saltillo. But Mexican President Vicente Fox's office said the plant will build a new cargo truck beginning in April and a four-door, crew-cab truck in August. "

What interested me was the part of that sentence about the "cargo" models... could that be a 4500-5500 series truck? Hmm...

I have no use for the Mega Cab if it's only available with a short bed or the Hemi engine.

My bet is it will be the Dodge Sprinter or something similar. I'm seeing a LOT of them on the roads recently, and it uses the Mercedes I-5 diesel which is pretty economical compared to gasser cargo vans.

I'd almost be willing to wait for the bigger cab but I'm not sure if I'm willing to go a year without being able to pull my fifth wheel.

Maybe you could buy a used 1st Gen to get by with until the new crew cabs are out. Because 1st Gens hold their value well, you could probably sell it for what you paid for it (or more) when that time comes.

I'm considering it..... just can't seem to make up my mind.

The Sequil. I'm located here in NW Phoenix. If you want, I'll keep an eye out for your stolen truck. Can you give us more info. Part of town it was stolen from? Any identifying features? It's probably in Mexico, now, though. Sorry to here about your truck. Joe.

Joe, I appreciate it, but it's been nearly 3 months now so I'm sure the old Cummins has made many border crossings by now. :{ It was stolen from Glendale. It did have a fifth wheel hitch and tailgate on it at the time but that's probably gone by now.
