my dad has a 06 mega cab, under 130K had couple injectors under warranty replaced, had couple used ones put in and couple schied remans put in. The last issue occoured probably a year ago, an injector went out, put reman in, forgot to tighten one rocker. . OH#@$%! and bent a push rod. bought new push rod, threw together, fired up ran good, smoked blue haze for a few, then ran great, shortly after started to have a knock when running and sounds like an injector going out. I have ohmed the injectors many times and they are in spec, harness too. after myself being stumped and another guy my dad met, it was decided to take to dealer. I hate dealers#@$%!#@$%!:-{}#@$%! anywho..... after many weeks at dealer and over $600 diagnostic charges they said it needed 3 injectors, then 5, then all 6... . and they want over 5G to put all 6 in!!!lol

Truck has always had Amsoil, has been taken great care of, but has only had fuel filter replaced 2 or 3 times... Truck has Edge EZ which has been disconnected and still the same, also has aftermarket 4" exhaust and a K&N drop in air filter, which the dealer diesel mechanic told my dad was a POS... . what a nice guy huh?

My thought Is all new injectors and a Air Dog, dad don't want remans any more... . and he is upset cause the last 2 injectors have maybe 10K on them and dealer said they need to be replaced... I'm guessing filter deterioration has plugged injectors

Anyways, truck starts good, runs good, has power, but a knock.....

Any insite would be greatly appreciated, would love to see dads truck on the road again!:)

Yeah, its a wonder they didn't extol the virtues of the K&N. There is hope for that tech anyway.

Your experiences using reman injectors are exactly why they are such a gamble. Sometimes you get ones that work, sometimes not, sometimes they don't last. The injectors replaced under warranty were some of the crappiest remans out there, it is no wonder they are all bad at this point.

You need a set of NEW injectors, period. Get the 4" pleat Fleetguard filter that fits the OE box and add a cold ait pipe to it. Best band fro the buck you do. While you are at it a 2 um filter beteen the OE filter and the CP-3 to protect those new injectors is a great investment.

Don't sell the in-tank pump short. For stock and mild performance it is hard to beat its performance and durability for the most part. You can achieve the same filtration, which used to be the big driver for an AD\FASS addition, with the OE pumop and high flow filters that are now available. The track record for the AD\FASS leaves something to be desired at times. You have options other than them.

Good luck and welcome to the TDR. :)

Might want to start caring for the fuel system after this gets all sorted out. Change the filter more than 3 times in its young life of 130k. That is what is the demise of the injectors most likely. The folks above this post have good info.

Seems that the less you modify, the longer it will live.
