I just bought a ARE utility top for my 06 and was informed by the salesman that DC could void my warranty if they hooked up my courtesy and tail light during the installation of the truck cap. Seems they got a memo or something from DC so they started informing their clients to give them the option. They said one dealer charged $180. for the hookup. So now we can't even hook up a light without voiding the warranty

As long as the load from the additional lights is not that great it should not be a problem. The FCM (front control module) or TIPM (totally integrated power module on 2006) uses high side drivers for most of the lights and they have built in overload protection. If you are adding a bunch of lights use a relay and direct battery feed. The 06 trucks have a new flash to keep them from overloading when adding trailer lights.

Void the warranty? That sounds like a horse-manure story to me. If the salesperson was telling the truth we are all in trouble...

Looks like my next truck won't be a Dodge, they have gotten out of hand.

I agree (not with john), plug it into the trailer harness. It has a pin for the brake lights and another for the trailer charge wire that you can use for the interior lights.

I just had an A. R. E. cap installed. There is a single wire in the harness that goes to the trailer harness Dodge puts there for the high mounted brake light. All you have to do is plug into it & run a ground.

I had the dealer run a wire to the battery for the inside cap lights, but the morons used about a 20 gauge wire & fused it at the end of the run not at the beginning. So I ripped their mess out & ran 10 gauge wire in a loom proctected by a 20 amp breaker near the battery!!

Thanks for the ideas. I seems that the trailer harness should support the additional lights. Just for grins :D I'll check with the dealer and see what their take is on the bombing of the cap lights
