I have a 06 5. 9 2500 auto drove it this morning and in half amile started running real ruff.

I just made it back home full trottle just 15 miles per hour.

My neighbor has a scan tool but we could not find where to plug it in.

The truck has 105,000 miles on it.

The number 6 injector went bad at 95000 miles and was replaced under warranty.

The fuel filter was replaced just 5000 miles ago.

Thanks for any help on this.

Larry

Check your air filter

Check all the small connectors around the motor, air intake ETC. You may have had a connector disconect causing you to go into a limp mode.

I once forgot to connect the one on the air intake near the filter... Truck ran like dog doo...

Also per some rule about OBII all OBDII connecter is with in a few feet of the stearing wheel... on your dodge its under the dash right near the hood release just to the left. can't miss it,

I got my neighbor to read my codes.

P2149 Supply voltage open.

PO 206Injector 6 circuit open.

I was wondering how many wires go to each injector?

The number 6 injector was replaced under warranty 5000 miles ago.

I will call the dealer tomorrow. Wonder if he will fix as it could be he left a wire loose or pinched a wire.

Or maby I should try to fix my self, and get a new wiring harness.

AT least I know what is going on.

Thanks for all the help,

Larry

More often than not injector electrical problems is a bad valve cover gasket. Don't ohm test the wiring, use a halogen or other high current bulb to load test the circuits.

First start by diagnosing it. If it's bad I doubt you can repair it unless you can see the open/short in a wire you can access.

How many months ago was the injector installed? The install and part carry a 12/12K warranty that will supersede your 5/100K.

Same code but on injector # 5

I had the same open circuit code, but on injector # 5. The Dealer changed the gasket 3 days ago but the moment I pressed the pedal for some power yesterday the code came back and the engine turned to 'safe' mode (turned off half the cylinders and the turbo?).

The gasket was expensive ($425) but under warranty. Can anyone chime in and tell us what's the ECM behaviour? And what's the required test bench to prove an injector defective (or good)?

Thanks for the help :) - Dan

06 dodge 5.9 running real bad (UPDATE) problem solved

Well got my truck fixed, boy am I happy.

Thanks for all the help on this problem.

I took it to my daughters in Johnson city , Tenn. It had been running good since the codes problem. I did take it back to the dealer who installed the 6 injector and he cleared the codes and said there was nothing wrong with it. It threw a code and went into limp mode in her driveway.

I took it to the dealer there and in a day he installed 6 injector which was causing the codes and electrical open circuit.

The truck runs smoother and has more power and smokes hardly any when you call on it and also uses less fuel than I can rember.

I was thinking about trading for a 2010 but with the problems and the new emmissions I don't know.

I hate to say this on this list but might go back to a gas burner.

anyway happy now and thanks for all the help I get from this list.
