Over the years I have accumulated some knowledge of parts to carry for my '91 Ford just in case there's a problem.
Sounds like folks are having some lift pump issues, and other issues that'll leave you on the side of the road, with the 3rd Gen Dodge trucks. I'd like to know what I should carry IN my '06 truck so that I can make repairs and stay on the road.
I frequently pull a horse trailer. Breaking down on the road for more than a couple hours is NOT AN OPTION (i. e. , I'd have to find someone to pick up my horses and board them overnight (expdn$ive), get the trailer towed somewhere, get the truck towed somewhere, and potentially take time off work while waiting for the nearest Dodge dealer to fix the truck).
Are the lift pumps on '06 trucks in the fuel tanks (worst possible location) or elsewhere? Can an electric pump be added without voiding the warranty (commonly done to old Ford diesels like mine)? Other parts I should carry besides the obvious (belts, etc. )
Mike
