Just curious as to what you guys are seeing for normal every day engine temps. Not towing, while either driving in town or on the feeway, I'm always at 200*. Is this normal? I've never had a vehicle that runs this hot all the time.
 
Yes. You should have a 190-195* thermostat. So, that is the temp range it should be opening and what your gauge should be reading.

200 is about right. I don't like it , I think it's about emissions. My old Ferd would run at 160. Diesel run cool anyways.
 
My '06 runs about a needle witdth warmer that the '07 but still below 200*. Just enough difference to notice tho' I figure it's normal variation between identical systems. Mfg dates are about 7 months apart.

... and power. The warmer you can hold the engine temps the more heat is held to warm the combustion charge and the less power is lost through the cooling system. More power, less throttle, better mpg. :)
