06 floor console sucks

went and looked at some '06's today, I can't figure out what the ryme or reason is behind the 06 floor console over the trans hump in the front is, apparantly all the 06 models with floor 4x4 shifters have the thing, and even some of the push button 4x4 trucks have it, while other push button 4x4 trucks have a clean floor, the thing that sucks about this console thing is for one you don't have the best devised cup holder set up ever made any more, and all those little partitions are prime for collection debris and other crap, So far I am thinking the '06 interior was a step backward, I can't believe they would get rid of the fold down cup holder set up on most of the trucks, My dad's 04 has a floor shifter but he still has the fold down cup holder

I second your opinion on the interior redesign. All of the new design DCX interiors look very harsh and made from what appears to be cheap plastic. But I guess most of the manufacturers are doing that. Whatever happened to padded door panels? I would also add the cloth seat materials to the list of dislikes. Yeah the ones in my '05 collect lint, but the new ones look like the seats in my base '98 Ranger. Maybe they are a bit more durable. Who knows.

yes of course the seats are horrible!!!! They look like something from the ST work truck, what where they thinking??

I agree with you about the look of the 06' cloth, very cold. I'll keep with my lint roller on the 05' versus the "new look". The console was too facilitate the rear A/C ducts. A nessecarry evil for the mega cab I guess.

I think your my neighbor how funny is that. I love the new console in my Mega Cab. Holds the drinks way better than you would think. The old style fold down on all my other trucks eventually took a dump, pretty hard to break the floor mount. The partions do get dirty but clean easy and you have room for your pens, IPod, cell phone three drinks and sticky notes. What has to go is the ugly fake wood trim.

i have an 06 g56 and have the center seat on mine. i wish i has the center console. even if somone had to sit there it would be nearly impossible to shift and very uncomfortable for the passanger. i'd trade in an instant with somone! my cup holders are on the floor under the shifter. if i'm drinking anything taller then a can of soda it touches the shifter and rattles! really irritates me! i have to use the cup holder for the passanger. REALLY STUPID DESIGN!!! i do like the doors all plastic. i'm a farmer and my 04 laramie doors got destroyed from entering the truck with dirty hands. over all i love the interior over my 04! much cleener feel and flow to it..... james

You need a genos cup smoothie, it fits on your arm rest, Its the best cup holder known to man especially for manual guys. I wish they just got rid of the whole floor set up, and I would be happy with just the cup smoothie

I wanted a new Durago... . as a daily driver... . hated the brash look of all the plastic on the inside..... went and looked at a Jeep Grand Cherokee... . its a huge step up... nice leather seats, with heaters, same sound and nav system... . but felt better... so I've got the Jeep... .



I am going to order at least one new 5500 when its available... . and will replace one of my older fords with an 07 3500 as well... .

I kinda like the interior of the '06. Can't say I mind the fake wood, either.



The cupholders... we'll see how I feel about those when my '06 gets here...
