06 frame vs 03-05 frames

Is the 06 frame any different than the 03-05 frames?

All the references I find to winch mounts specify for 03-05 which appears to suggest that the 06 is different. Do any of you know for sure whether there is a difference? Thanks for any help.

Yes, the frame was changed in '06. Beyond that, I'm not sure how it was changed.

I've been looking for a front receiver hitch for my '06, and some of the companies said their 03-05 hitches will not fit on an 06, so I assume there are differences in the front horns. Why, I couldn't tell you. I'm interested why also.



It could be something really simple. I had a '95 and '97 Ram, and the tow hooks I had on those trucks wouldn't fit my 98 (all 1500 models). Never knew why.

The early second gens also had a wider frame than the later 2nd gens... the front hitch I had required the use of 1/4" spacers on my 99, but not my 94.



It might be as simple as they widened the frame?

I thought it had to do the the bumper design, not the frame.
