06 Guage Question

I have a good one for you guys who have the new 06. Mine is coming in about 2 to 3 weeks from now. Looking at different pictures of the rams interior, noticed the two square blank spots on the dash on each side of the steering wheel below the instrument cluster. Has anybody ever taken the dash off to see what is behind those blank spots. What i was wondering is, would it be possible to mount a guage on each side of the steering wheel in those two blank spots? It would be awesome and it would be custom made if you could. Maybe someone who has a 06 now could measure the square and see if it is big enough first and then maybe look behind it in the dash and check it out. IT IS WORTH A TRY TO BE DIFFERENT! theres a big piece of steel back there. i dont think it would be a good place for gauges. i just got done putting dipricol optix gauges on my pillar post and its perfect for me. i put boost down low egt second and fuel up high. my eye falls naturally right on boost. my 03 i put the gauges in the dash right under the havac controls and never looked at them cause it was so off to the side. i feel that the gauge up at rear view mirror would have the same effect for me. if youre a real enthusiast for boost and egt i feel pillar post is the only way i would go. hope this helps

Guages

Well, i dont even have the truck yet and i already have the SRT 10 pillar that holds the one guage. I need to put the other two somewhere else. I am buying the dipricol optix guages also. Is there anyway that you could send me a picture of the optix guages at night time with your cluster guages in the picture too to help me make my mind up????

yea theres a halo around the center of the gauges you might see in the picture i dont find it unpleasant but you might i really like the gauges. the lighting is led as you probably know

Guages

They really provide a good match to the guages. I really like the looks of them. I am glad you can see them. In my 2002, i have the banks gauages and you cant see a damn thing with green bulb covers on them. Thanks alot buddy.

Steel

Is that piece of steel just like a flat piece and hollow behind it or is it a thick piece of steel? If it is capable of getting a guage in there, it would be awesome. Im just wondering if there is room behind the steel

The steel has a slight curvature. I think it's designed for occupant safety during a crash.

i feel your pain, i did a srt pod with etg got 3 hole windshield pod from mark at dpp boost,tran,oil pressure not to bad of a job =========================================================- 06,3500 drw 4x4 auto red loaded

The Optix guages look decent, much better than the Isspro's I had before them. There is quite a bit of light leak from the center, and it would be nice if the needle were lit, like the Dodge guages are. But, for now, these are the best match to the factory. Still wish somebody could make a perfect match like my VDO's were in my 2001!



Also, my EGT guage DPP sent me was DOA, so I am waiting on another. May want to wait a bit and let DiPricol figure out the problem, apparently quite a few have been DOA.

Guages

i really like the optix guages and i dont think i will mind the halo around the needle. I just wish i could do a custom thing with the guages in the 06. I liked it in some of the 04 05's with the custom look with the guages in the dash below the ac controls. I really like the steering column guage mount for the 06's but i cannot find any of the new interior paint for the 06's in the medium slate gray color. All i can find is the natural beige or whatever it is for the pillar.

I have an 06, and I've looked at that spot for switches. I wouldn't want to put gauges there, unless I didn't want to really see them.
