Attention: TDR Forum Junkies 
Went to the dealer for an oil change (live in an apt) and get the roll over valve fuel takn thing fixed and asked about the flash for the long crank time. My truck is an early 06... was built lin 07/05... if I remember correctly... it fell into the range where there is a flash that is "supposed' to fix the prob.
I was able to talk with the mechanic and he said that even if my truck build date was in the range... it depended on the S/N of the ECM. Apparently mine was not within range and they said there is no flash avail for me. I had not heard of the S/N thing so I figured I would ask if anyone else had the same thing come up. Just asking.
I also asked about the truck having a bit more "smoke" and haze when getting on it. He asked if I idled the truck a lot and I said no... but I drove short distances to work ever since I moved to Colorado springs. He had the scan tool plugged in under the dash and pulled up that I had 26 percent idle time and said that it should be under 20. I only have 7K miles on the truck. mechanic said that he has worked on trucks that are just grocery getters and they have injector probs and stuff... says that they never get really warmed up...
he also asked if I had a box or chip I said no... which I don't... cuz next bay over was like an 03/04 that had an edge box and the guy scored #6 and #4 was bad too. head was off and the cylinders looked ugly. mechanic said... those things will void your warrenty and this will cost the guy 12K to fix!! ouch!!! did not look in the cab to see if there were gauges or not.
obviously not a "box friendly" dealer.
BTW. . the scan tool also shows the amount of time at various percentages of load and a ton of other stuff too.
Very nice guys though and more than helpful on a few other q's that I had. Need to get a Smarty on this thing and see if they can tell... .
