My brother is looking to buy a new '06 mega cab dually with a CTD and a 6 speed, and since this isn't a cheap truck, we were wondering what you all (ya'll for the southern folk) think of yours. He isn't crazy about the box frame in the Buffalo winters, but we figure its as good as any of the plastic things they call trucks nowadays. Any problems, positives information is greatly appreciated, thanks for your replies in advance.

A friend just got one and what strikes me is the refinement of it. Its much more quiet than my truck, the door seals are far better, the auto transmission is crisp. The tactile response from all the controls are smooth. Even the paint is better!

Your brother won't be disappointed!

If he is using the dually to do alot of heavy towing, he may be dissapointed. There has been alot of talk on here about weight ratings and the megacab dually. Do a search and you'll find the threads.

I sat in one the other day, the seats felt stiffer than ever, but when the salesman fired up the motor I thought it sounded better than the one in my '03. The cabin seemed quieter, there were less tinny noises but more quality sounds coming from the motor into the cab, and the turbo sounded deeper with a nicer tone. I was tempted to take a test drive, but since prices have gone up considerably since '03 I can't afford a new one that's for sure.

Prarie Dog your '03 was one of the first Gens I really took a close look at, you probably remember me scoping it out at the first party you came to at Rob's.

Definitely quieter than my '04 I traded in. I'm not a big fan of the light grey interior, but the pluses definitely outweigh the minuses. I've done Memphis to Gulfport, 360 mile trip, all in one sitting, and most of it at 90+. Very crisp, and very comfy.

My Megacab is more stable towing than my 96'. Couldn't wait for the Mega dually. Can't believe how quiet the truck is towing 5500pds of Jeep and trailer at 70mph.

My MC is awseome. The ride on my new 06 MC 4X4 puts my old 98 2WD to shame. Solid ride, no rattles, and quiet.

he wont be dissapointed.

They sure have come a looooong way. I drove a 2001 second gen truck yesterday, thinking of getting something "not as nice" for ranch chores and dirty guy type projects. The steering, brakes, ride, sound level, general quality and better design of the new truck really makes an impression when you step back in time a little. They are expensive but they are also a heck of a lot better in just about every respect. I have also done several cross country trips in my '05 and '06 trucks. They are comfortable, the '06 being the best so far with better seats and a nicer interior. The $50k+ sticker was obnoxious but I don't feel slighted. My wife may be giving up her Porsche Cayenne for the Mega Cab, that says something about the level of comfort and refinement Dodge has reached.

DC has been and will be putting a lot of R&D into NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) enhancements. If you look at the sales brochure for the '06 model there's a "cut-away" view of the whole truck and they point out improvements such as re-tuned frame, stiffer engine mounts, improved door seals, laminated glass, etc. that all attribute to improved NVH.

When I was at the Portland auto-show I had a salesman come up to me and tell me the new '06 Dodge is 80% quieter than the previous generation. Take that FWIW...

Alright, i just talked to my brother again, he sadi hes looking at a quad cab, not a mega cab. Also, he is going to take the box off and use this truck as his primary welding truck. This means it will be 10,000-12,000 lbs every day. Is there any reason this truck wont handle this kind of weight on a daily basis? Another question is feul milage, what are you all getting? I hope this doesn't count as a engine/transmission question, sorry to the moderaters if it is. Thanks for your replies guys, this is helping us out a lot.
