06 smoking..... am i crazy??..

The last few days i noted that when accelerating, the truck seems to put out black smoke till i get to around 40. This is light accel. probally 5-10% of peddle movement (i. e. 350 feet to get to 40mph. )



Could i have a problem?



06 auto 4wd no chips or boxes. stock with about 1K of crap in truck



seems to doing fine.

Any fuel additives?



Could simply be a poor batch of fuel...

any gauges to see boost? How is the air filter?

Check for codes (Key On/Off ) method. Wastegate problems will give you excessive smoke. Check for a code P0234 instock. Does the truck feel like it's lagging more than normal? You could have something like a parking brake stuck on causing excesive drag. A boost check as p-Bar suggested would be the best way to tell.

I would guess air filter first...

Have you run it hard lately? The cat may need you to get it hot. . So find a 10K trailer and hit the hills.

hers the deal i was over for oil so i did these

Air filter

fuel filter

Oil change and bypass

and front dif (it was due)



The air filter was caked with oily dirt... bigtime

i noticed a little small dust in afe torque tube so i cleaned it. .

No more constant smoke!!!! (gotta really be the airfilter. )



***The turbo fins were ligtly blak (not quite oilly. )

What can i spray it with to clean?
