I have an 07 2500 Ram and don't like stock tailight lens, 06's bolt right on but the wiring is different. Anyone have a plug and play solution to this or do I have to cut and splice?
I did the same to my truck that you want to do. I got two '06 and down tail lamp assemblies AND the lighting plugs too. The rear lighting plugs were hard to find as they are part of the whole rear truck wire loom. I went to a truck wrecking yard.
The '07 has a different lighting configuration than the '06 and down. The '07 only uses ONE bulb for both turn and stop. The '06 uses two bulbs, the top is the running/turn and the lower is the running/brake light.
I used the TOP bulb and hooked the wires up to the '07 wiring so the top is the stop/turn. I then tapped the third brake light wire that is stubbed off in the left rear wire loom for a camper shell and wired it to the lower bulb for just stop lights. NOW I have FOUR stop lights when the blinker is not on. Or THREE when one blinker is on. You could just hook the '07 wiring to BOTH the '06 lamps and both on each side would work the same.
