Diesel Smell Question

Who makes a good battery

I helped a buddy put an TST on his 06 today, and his truck had the following issues:

-P0336

-P0341

-while drive the go pedal would go dead - truck would just sit at idel RPM

-at one point the truck died while going down the road.

Any ideas?

p code 0336 is crankshaft position sensor signal and p code 0341 is camshaft position sensor signal. i would check the connections to the two and make sure they are tight.

When there wasn't a dead pedal it seemed to run stock - like the TST added no power.

What fuses are the 2 wires in the harness supposed to go to? would having them backward cause this?

It`s sounds like you have either the injector plugs or the crank/cam sensor plugs backwards :{

If you have installed it, why are the orange wires not installed. I think you need to re-read the installation instruction and complete the job.

Double check the plugs as mentioned and hook up the rest of the system. :-laf

DrDiesel - are you always so helpful?

On the 06 there are only 2 injector plugs... if they are backwards would the truck run??

The orange and red are installed to fuse taps but it would be nice if the directions were a little more clear. - If I recall we used 28 and 38 Are these the right ones? the directoins speak of 28 32 and 38

I don`t know if it would run with the injector plugs installed backwards.

There are 3 fuse taps. I guess I`ll go and get my directions to see if I can help.

The injector harnesses do need to have correct orientation. :)

Yes, it`s 28/orange, 32/orange, and 38/red.

It states that the injector plugs are identical and that the plug farthest from the TST module is connected to the rear injector plug.

It also states the cam/crank plugs are identical. The plug farthest from the TST module plugs into the Crank sensor at the bottom position.

So if you hold the wire/timing/injector harnesses out and look at the plug farthest away from the module plug.

I sure hope this helps. :D

I would check the map sensor and see if it has a good connection. I had the same codes and problems when I first installed it. Go through the directions once more and check all the connections.

Had a very simular thing happen when I put a TST box on my Dad's 04 truck. Long story short disconnect the TST connection at the camshaft sensor and take a good look at both the female and male ends of the plug. In our case it was discovered that when making the connection one of the terminal had pushed back a ways out of the plug, not mating correctly with its partner terminal making an intermittent or no connection at all. After reseating the errant wire properly in the plug the problem was solved.

turbo llc. I am a TST dealer and have installed over 20 PMCRs on 2006 trucks and all have eventually spit out a P0336 crank sensor code and /or PO341. They all seem to run fine but the check engine light is very common on the 06 compared to the 03-05 units in my mindings. I have went round and round with TST about this issue and they say it is only an occasional problem. I have got to the point where I just point blank tell people with an 06 truck to expect the CEL on.
