Cracked stock air box, steps I should take?

I have an 06 with a TS MP-8 and was going to get either Bully Dog Triple Dog or a Superchips. I was leaning toward the BDTD for the Crazy Larry program but am wanting some input before I lay out the cash. What are realistic HP and TQ 3's with each if known?

Thanks

Since you have a new truck with a warranty, why not get an undetectable downloader like the Smarty? At least your odds will be better of having warranty covering a potential issue down the road.

I had a Triple Dog and it did not impress me much. The Smarty is far superior. Additionally the Smarty doesn't jack up the rail pressure.

Bully Dog claims theirs does not, but I don't believe it. Do some searching, you'll find that the Triple Dog does. Stacking two modules that do pressure is not a good idea.

I would get the TST, or like JCleary said get a SMARTY... If you download the Bully Dog to your truck, kiss your warrenty good bye. :(

I know of two trucks that run 12's in the quarter with that TST, MP8 and SMARTY Stack. One is a 6 speed with twins and other stuff and the other truck has a built DTT transmission, but those three stacked is awesome... All I need is the MP8, but I'm not looking to race down the strip, just have plenty of power on tap to kill the other two brands, if you want to call a PS a challnger and shut the SH** talking owners up. :D

I would look into the TsT! You will find very few people that are not happy with it. Plus the sky is the limit when you go too stacking.

I will second (or third . . ?) the vote for the TST. That has been a very popular stack the TST and MP8. The Smarty will be available for the 2006 here very soon, so that also is an option.

Yeah, until the Smarty came out, the TST was the single-best mod I have done to my truck.

Now, the Smarty has won me over as my favorite...

But I'd never get rid of my TST.

I know for sure the r37 is. The new R49s have a rail pressure control, so I don't really know if it would work or if it would benifit you.

As for detectable, not really, but if your dealer is a prude you aren't going to be happy. Find a better dealer. The TST isn't to hard to pullout, but the pyro lead that goes nowhere is kinda a dead giveaway to the tech.

Either them directly or Tomeygun (a memeber on this site). Dont forget to check the classifieds on this site. Might find one for an 06 and save you some $$$.

beware mp8 can blow your injectors just like ez and crazy larry quadzilla and anyother pressure box van akken 3. 1 seems to be the safest pressure box. . if your truck starts to blow white smoke shut it down... cylinder wash will end up in a scarred block... . as you can tell I speak from experience not from one time but from many people!!! if anyone tells you d/f is misinformed... . stacked pressure boxes is like a ticking time bomb... . study and know what you are doing! tst crazy larry nono... smarty tst cool tstez cool keep the pressure low except when dynoing... turn the p boxes off when towing blabla later

The TST R37 does not mess with pressure according to their website! I have run the MP8 for a year now with NO problems.

I'm confused about the reference to stacking pressure boxes. Does SMARTY add pressure? I was under the impression that TST was timing and/or duration, SMARTY did torque management and/or timing, and EZ MP-8 etc did the pressure... and that using SMARTY + TST + Pressure box of your choice was a reasonably safe and reliable way to make good power (of course after having fuel, turbo, trans/clutch, exhaust, air mods).

I know there have been some issues with timing rattle between TST and SMARTY, but I was unaware that SMARTY + Pressure box would blow injectors! Help me understand...

the smarty does not raise rail pressure over stock levels.

stacking smarty with a pressure box works very well. I like to see upgrades injector tips (f1 diesel) for added protection over stock tips.

tst, smarty great boxes for long term reliability, pressure boxes beat things up pretty bad even set a 50% setting... now stack two pressure boxes and you will kill your engine.

good stacks monday thru friday: tst, smarty, mp8 and ez on lowest settings

saturday night turn up the mp8 and ez but not to high.

when towing back the pressure to lowest setting again.

i am trying to help my buddy find a short block as we speak i told him not to use crazy larry with tst and get rid of the ez is he loaded larry... his truck was a ticking time bomb. then when his truck started to blow white smoke i told him an injector was blown and to stop driving it... did he listen nooooo and he f-ed up his block... truck is an 06 with 15K miles on it... . so i am just passing this info along again but will people listen... most will. these new truck fuel systems are not as strong as 24v and 12v's when abused... 30K+psi spikes thru these injectors is a killer! Look at some of Donm's posts remember he is an injector builder and he is one of the individuals whom i base my opinions off of... my buddy did not listen and its going to cost him at least $7K from what i understand its not just the tips that fail the bodies crack... . to bad donm is not on the site for reasons i think i know but wont say :-{} can we have don back please. don's the man!
