Truck has 2635 miles on it, the oil is black as the ace of spades and about half way down on the safe zone. Also I noticed and had to reset the, oh forgot the name of the thing that show the restriction on the air filter. Any way had to reset it.

Not used to this my 96 ran with clean oil all the time, now even with over 100,000 miles and never, never had any problems with the air filter.

Is this normal on the new trucks? Oh by the way my Truck was made in July of '06.

Oil gets black quick in the 3rd gens, so it's normal there. Not sure what your potential problem is with your air filter, I junked my stock air box the day I bought my '06 and tossed in an AFE Stg. 2 kit. I am sure your air filter is fine unless you have been driving through thick dust storms for the last 2500 miles. Has your engine performance decreased since you bought it to make you think there is an air filter issue??

Unfortunately, it's normal for the oil to turn black as coal practically as soon as you start up the first time after a change. Depending on your location and driving habits, the cold air could be affecting your air filter causing a restriction. It happened to me a few weeks ago. I do remember changing my "factory" air filter the first time around 2800 miles.

If that is the case, I will go right to a drop in Amsoil, and can't wait till I get 5,000 miles on it so I can go to Amsoil oil. :D Sorry to say but if you are going to have to change filters every 2800 miles that just plan stinks. :--)

Been cold here with some snow and ice, truck has never been of paved roads yet.
