washing the trucko this last weekend and noticed my cab and bed are not lined up. either the rear of the cab is on the mounts a ~1/2" too far to the passenger side or the front of the bed is too far to the driver's side. now that i've noticed it, it's driving me crazy.

truck has not been abused. i did hit a big dip in the road one time that shook me up pretty good, but i don't think it was enough to bend the fully boxed frame we have..... especially considering some of you guys jump these things in the desert.

i've done body lift kits on older vehicles before and had to shift stuff like this around to get things lined up, but upon evaluating the situation on this truck, i don't see any oblong body mount holes to fix this. i think i'm going to loosen all the body mounts and see if i can straighten this up... ... .

anyone with tips for this truck??

why not take it to the dealer and see what they say?

Ian

i'd rather try to fix it myself. i'm in socal..... the land of the "never get it right the first time and blame it on the customer when ever slightly possible".

i dread paying any one here to do work for me, it is NEVER done right the first time and i end up redoing what i paid them to do every time.

Try adjusting the bed instead of the cab. If you adjust the cab, then you have to realign the hood, both fenders, and bumper probably. Much easier and less stressful to loosen the 6 or 8 bed bolts (cant remember how many... )and move it a bit. Thats the best way in my opinion.

i think that's the best plan too... . thanks man

That is SOCAL for sure, It is impossible to get anything done right here, or so it seems.

I read this thread yesterday...

Got thinking... wasn't this also an issue on the 2nd gen trucks??? Wonder if they changed something?

Might try a search on the topic in the 2nd gen forums... I'm pretty sure this has been covered and probably has some good pointers...

good luck

I guess is depends on the dealer on a one by one case

they may tell you that the truck was in an accident and you are on your own if they see the bolts have been turned. I would bring it to them and let them fix it before trying yourself. A friend of mine lost his entire warranty on his Wrangler because he had a rock in his brakes behind the backing plate the dealer told him he abused it off road and the transfer case was making the noise and his entire warranty was voided through corp Chrysler.

the dealer would never know if you moved your box around? and if truck shop puts a flat bed on a rig that voids the warranty..... ?

i would at least take it in so they can document the complaint. the paper trail may be handy down the road. too bad they cant build a body to match the drive train on these rigs.
