Ok this might be the most retarded idea ever but I was just thinking of doing something different with my truck..... Does anyone know what is involved in making a 03 quad cab 2500 4x4 into a 3500 with dually wheels in the rear and in the front??? I was also thinking my bed looks the same as the 2007 mega cab dually and the fenders off of a mega cab dually might work on the 03 bed??? This is a crazy idea but im sure there a few out there that have done it... I was told the rear ends are the same but the spring packs were different!!! I wonder if I would have to buy some sort of spindles for the front or find a whole new front end???

i too am intersted in this but i want to to a conversion that incorporates the 10 bolt wheels. I have noticed that beds with the dually fenders removed have aabout a 4 inch tall by 12 inch long notch cut out of the fender. i think the arrowcraft and chromewheel.com dually adapters make the wheels stick out farther than a regular dually. lets hope we get some good input

Im not wanting to go with the expensive 10 lug wheels... . Do you know if the dually front axles are different from the single rear wheel axles and if so what needs to be done??? Are you wanting to use the new design fender on you truck too???

Couple of points... ...

1) Buy a DRW bed complete from someone or a junk yard. It will be cheaper than modifying your bed and adding the DRW wheel covers. There are plenty of beds floating around for roughly $500 complete.

2) The rear axle is different. It's wider on the DRW than it is on the SRW. I don't think you'll be able to modify yours so you'd need to source one from the junk yard as well. Just make sure the axle ratio is the same.

3) The front just uses bolt on spacers for the DRW wheels to be used.

4) The spring rates are different as well. A 3500 uses heavier springs at all four corners.

Your best bet is to find a totaled DRW that was hit in the front and get all the stuff off the back end.

Good luck!
