Yeah and its a mighty big "C" channel frame too. Looked at a RC/CC manual 6. 7 (the only one they had) at Hill-Kelly the other day. Very beefy, but I wonder why they use "C" channel in heavy-duty frames as opposed to box frames in "light" duty frames like a 2500. I'm sure there's a sound engineering reason why, I've just never dug around to find out. Can they safely flex easier or something?
If you remember the frame had cracking issues when slide in campers (which are not recommended, per the owners manual, for the 3rd Gen trucks) were installed in the Dodge and some service bed manufacturers made you sign a waiver to release them of liability. That is the reason I have to buy the new C&C with the service bed rather than use my 2500 CTD. The hydro formed frame was the reason (I think that is what they call it)

So I guess then, that C-channel frames are stronger? Or does it have something to do with the sheer size of the frame? Roger that on keeping the frame clean of rust.

Then should I be concerned about my Diamond Gooseneck hitch cracking MY frame!!!

If you search TDR for this issue, you will find the info. It is a controversial issue, but I did get a disclaimer from dodge as a separate pamplet with my CTD in 04 and it stated that no slide in camper recommended and they don't say why. I believe that yours may not be effected with the gooseneck if it is in the middle of the bed. The stiffness from the service bed and weight (as well as a camper) on the frame can cause cracks behind the cab when the frame flexs at that point

How about putting an 8ft pickup bed on a new cab and chassie. I'd like a 3500 single wheel pickup with the Asian Trannsmision and the new 6. 7 motor. Anyone if this is possible.
