Archived 07 with code 1740- Trans slipping bad

My brother has an 07 Quad cab dually 4wd with 5. 9 This morning his computer started throwing the 1740 code. Put the truck in drive and trans doesnt engage immediately if at all. When accellerating when it gets to the shift point for first into second it starts to slip and goes back into first. He's got a bully dog triple doge that stays in the economy setting about 95% of the time. Truck has about 48k on it. What can I tell him?

I would advise him to take it to a known and trusted transmission shop. The first step will be to allow a transmission expert to diaganose the problem. It could be a simple and inexpensive repair that doesn't even require removal from the truck, or it could require a complete rebuild.

I suspect it was that claimed "5%" when the magic black box was not in the economy mode and his right foot that caused his problem.

I kinda suspect the numbers are off as well. Told him it wasnt the warranty police I was telling. Anyway, it going to have to be looked at. Going to start at the trans shop tomorrow looks like.

Didn't find 1740 in the 3rd gen DTC sheet but I found it in the 96 to 2001 DTC sheets.

1740= TCC or OD Solenoid performance.
