Hey everyone,

I'm thinking about trading my '03 3500 on an '08 and was wondering if anyone with "connections" can tell me what the invoice price is.

The VIN is 3D7MX48A58G142245. The $4500 cash back plus the 1% under invoice seems pretty good to pass up:)

Thanks!

Joe

Both Dave Smith and Dishman will provide TDR members $1000 back of invoice and any on going rebates at the time... Dave Smith is in Kellogg ID and Dishman is in Spokane... . Dave Smith Motors NEW, USED, Wholesale and Dishman Dodge | Spokane - Spokane Valley - Deerpark | New - Used - Commercial Dealership | Washington

Email either of them and have them pull up that truck and have them give you a truck that compares to that from a factory order or in inventory... .

I've learned that I make 2500-3000 by selling my old trucks over trading with the dealer... . How many miles on your 03??

BTW - they are nice people to deal with..... if you contact Dishman use Rob Croswhite... . he's a very nice young man who has helped me with at least 5 or 6 now... .

Now don't laugh at me for wanting to trade up, but the '03 only has 37,000 miles on it - it looks as good as an '03 could. I don't drive it in the winter unless the pavement's clean and it's always garaged. There's really nothing wrong with it except the 68RFE on the new one would be a lot better for towing.

I can probably get to $1000 under the invoice locally by haggling the trade and usually I have good luck pretty much breaking even over selling outright due to the reduced sales tax on the trade and basically playing hardball with them on the rest. Best of all I don't have to deal with selling mine.

Go to the Dodge web site and built the truck you want that will give you an idea what invoice will be what I did was built my truck then take that info to dealer and say this is what I want My invoice price was 51,000 I got the truck for 41 and change . just do your homework and make sure you are happy with the deal they offer then go for it .

You can also ask the dealer to see the invoice. If they won't show it to you, then you don't want to buy from them anyway.

The '03 is worth its weight in gold w/only 37k on the clock. You might be getting a better transmission withh the '08, but you will be getting a less reliable motor due to the DPF system and you will also be losing approx 25% or more fuel economy compared to what you have now.

You could spend $5k on the trans and have a bullet proof engine and trans and still be money and headaches ahead of the '08.

Doesn't really answer your question, but just my $0. 02

Update: I just came from the dealer. I didn't drive the '03 today so I just got the '08 price. The sticker was $48,550 and their first offer was 38,700. Close to what I expected and supposedly 1% under invoice - $4,500 cash back, but I still suspect there's a little room for improvement. Of course they're really interested in my '03 so I told them I'll stop by tomorrow after work. We'll see what happens...

Oh, and I've thought of building the 48RE on mine as well because pulling my 12K boat is eventually going to break it anyway. That new 6-speed auto would sure help that issue:)

Sounds similar to my deal on my 08, (should be here any day) don't feel bad about trading up, I'm in the same boat 38k on my 06 and all I really wanted was the sunroof. After a test drive with the 6. 7, I was sold hands down. The 5. 9 is awesome, I'm putting an 03 in my ford right now, but the 6. 7 is even better.

As a rep I would tell you get a buyer for your trade, then go in for what is called a IN and out. Check with your local dealer and see if they will do then. Here in Utah, it says on taxes. You only pay tax on the differance in price. Here in Utah, thats about 650 a 10k.

You can take $10,000 right off the top of the MSRP. Then the rebates and then if the dealer is in a good mood you can take the $1,000 or 3% hold back on top of the rest.

 hehehehehe (43,642)

After I purchased my truck from a local dealer and got SCREWED I told my brother to give Tom a call. He did and ended up buying his 04 3500 from him. Transaction was smooth and painless!!! What I was surprised at was there was no salesman trying to sell him extended service, undercoating, or air freshners all in an attempt to compensate for such a great deal we got on the truck. In and out in under 30 minutes if I remember correctly. We spent more time BS'ing in the parking lot after the sale then the transaction itself.

If I (or my brother) would buy again it certainly wouldn't be from a local dealer. I purchased locally and let me tell you - there is no such thing as customer loyalty. Service sucked at my local dealer so why buy local thinking you are going to get better service saying "I purchased my truck here"???? If the truck is the same and DC needs to honor the warrenty at any dealer you go to and you get 3% under invoice with Tommy... . what's the difficult decision???

When I need to replace my truck I'm calling Tom!!!!!

Thanks, Tom. At least the local dealer was up front on the invoice price because that's exactly what they wrote down. They were even willing to knock another $1500 off the 1% under price if I took that one off their hands.

Here's one for a good laugh - That price aside, they thought they deserved to make $8K on my trade, which they probably already had a buyer for anyway, so I didn't even counter offer. I'm sure they'll be calling when they start getting hungry:)

My impressions on the new one: The seats are a little more comfortable and the ride's a little better. The engine's quieter with plenty of power (similar to mine with Smarty on #3) and the transmissions a little smoother, but it's not so much different that I just have to have it unless the price is right.

I'm with NJT, I'll be giving Tom a call when it's time. I'm only 2. 5 hours northeast of St Louis and am not afraid to drive to get a new rig:)
