Old Fords???? can anyone help??? round 2

Well, wife's car is acting a little quirky on acceleration.

Took car 60 days ago into dealer to get trans fluid changed & engine oil changed. Dealer called, said it's done. Pick it up and they say trans fine and they didn't do the change :-{}

So, fast forward; her car is a little sluggish until the rpms get up there a ways.

I'm going to change the fluid. No haynes manual is even available for this car. My google searches aren't getting me much.

What I know:

Remove plug, drain fluid, use new plug washer, replace plug, 5-8 qts of fluid.

What I don't know:

Is there a valve body filter? Should I drop the pan?

Help please :)

Oh, and I hear the fluid is special and very pricey :rolleyes:

The same company builds the trans for every car that uses it regardless of nameplate

The Dodge fluid is outrageous$

Mopar ® CVT+4 is required in the CVT automatic transaxles.

Mopar ® CVT+4 when new is green in color. As the vehicle is driven, the ATF will begin to look darker in color and may eventually become brown. This is normal. A dark brown/black fluid accompanied with a burnt odor and/or deterioration in shift quality may indicate fluid deterioration or transmission component failure.

Found local NAPA carries a CVT fluid that is nissan compliant (Eneos brand), and it's just under $9 per quart.

Nissan wanted $19. 99 per quart.

The car takes 8 3/4 quarts...

They are probably the worst service dept at a dealership I've ever dealt with.

Trunk lock doesn't work right, car under warranty, we're on month 7 for a fix...
