Recently picked up the last issue (July09) of Diesel Power magazine and read about the 1. 4 million and counting 2001 2WD 3500 white Dodge, quad cab.
What a story. Same owner, bought it new, still original turbo,Dana 80 and transmission (NV5600), no engine rebuilds.
The repairs:
" an injection pump,
a clutch,
several batteries,
multiple belts and hoses,
two sets of front wheel bearings,
two cylinder head gaskets,
many lift pumps,
two water pumps,
one remanufactured vacuum pump,
a power steering pump,
a complete set of universal joints,
a new belt tensioner,
and a fan clutch".
Thats it, impressive.
65% of the truck's total miles were under heavy load.
The owner-drove class 8 trucks before buying the pick up to haul camping trailers across the country.
Only one mechanic ("exclusively") has worked on the truck- independent shop in Missouri- Cunningham Performance LLC, Forrest Cunningham is the mechanic, and probably the owner.
What an example. From the pic of the engine compartment, looks totally stock-OEM air filter housing and piping, no bypass oil system that I see there (or mentioned in the article), OEM intake horn, inside the cab I couldn't see any additional gauges, it only has a CB radio. Check it out if you can, very short story, I wish they had more info .
Just wanted to share the info, and think most will find it impressive.
