here on my 95 auto in front of the starwheel plug is the engraving: 1. 5 m m

Any ideas what this might mean?

I think it is stock, maybe this is related:

The truck spews a black cloud when you mash the pedal 1/2 way or more but it is only momentary. The star wheel was all the way forward; I moved it halfway back(toward firewall) but it still smokes on takeoff, maybe a bit less. Is this smoke on takeoff normal? I want my truck to be as efficient as possible, to me smoke is inefficiency. What else could I do to decrease the smoke?

I doubt your truck "stock", if you are getting gobs of smoke. Some is fine. Turbo spools up and it cleans right up. It took some doing to get mine to smoke when stock. If you are worried about effeciency, don't be mashing the go pedal. Other way to reduce smoke at low boost, turn the star-wheel AWAY from the engnie, also slide the AFC housing forward.

Could be wrong, but I suspect the plate has been slid forward (Check for break-off screw and for the AFC housing bolts for scratched paint to see if tampered with. ). The 1. 5mm probably means how far it was moved forward. Could also be an after-market plate in there + plus sliding it ahead, or someone took a grinder to the stock one. It should look something like this one on the right- #ad
