Some Basic Questions on Clutch/transmission Upgrades

Hi to all,just picked up my auto-meter 1/8 npt fitting for my used pyro gauge. Does anyone have pictures of what way the crush fittings are suppose to go once the prob is installed. There are two in the packet and i don't have any instructions,I don't want to ruin the $40. 00 part. Thanks. :)
 
I don't think it matters what way the crush sleeve goes, it should be symmetrical isn't it? Once it's crushed it's crushed, there's no turning back, so be sure your depth is correct!
 
I just installed my Autometer pyro last week - there were no "crush" fittings for it (there were some for the boost gauge).



The other 2 fittings were a) a threaded bung that could be welded into the exhaust pipe, b) a sleeve with with an allen head in it to be used as a "spacer" if you installed in a hole in the exhaust pipe to be used with the huge hose clamp (also a fiber washer for this too).
 
I guess crush wasn't the proper word,but the kit i got has two fittings,one is like a washer and the other is cone shaped.
 
If it's just a cone shaped sleeve to squeeze the pyro probe to set the depth then snug it up till the probe doesn't turn in it. Not too tight, you don't want to "crush" it lol.

That's called a ferrule. It's not really meant to "crush" but to "bend" instead. Don't worry, as long as you install it straight (read: don't mangle it), it's reuseable. Plus you can pick those things up for pennies from any fittings supplier.



I like to install them by putting the ferrule on the tube way down at the end, then inserting the whole thing in the fitting and pressing down on the tube until it bottoms out in the fitting, then screw down the nut. Doesn't have to be super-tight... something like 1/4 turn after finger tight.
