Just installed a new 1 piece driveshaft in my 02 this morning and I must say that after the 1st test drive, neither the dogs or I can believe the difference this upgrade has made!
Vibrations gone throughout the speed/rpm range. I had a pretty noticeable vibration/growl in the 40-50 MPH range and while the truck only has 53000 miles on it, and there was no real visible indication of it, I suspected the driveshaft u-joints and carrier bearing.
So I spent a lot of time debating whether or not to just replace the u-joints and carrier bearing, or do the 1 piece conversion.
I am so happy I decided to put the extra $ in to the 1 piece conversion!
Vibrations gone! This truck rides like it's new again and I couldn't be more pleased!
Shout out to Driveshaft Specialists of Texas out of San Antonio! Their website has a lot of good information on it with detailed instructions telling you exactly the measurements/info they need to build you a custom one piece for your second gen.
If you're on the fence, as I was, my 2 cents is to go all in on the 1 pc conversion. It's an easy project that I knocked out alone in the driveway in a couple of hours and I was really taking my time. If I had just been on a mission to knock it out, it would have probably taken me longer to unpackage the driveshaft from the box they ship in than it takes to do the removal of old and install of new driveshaft.
Do it.
You won't regret it!
