5th wheel towing capacity???

Thoughts and ?? on air ride hitches

Don't know if this is ok per site guidelines or in the correct place. I have a 90 Dodge reg cab 1 ton dually 2wd no bed runs/drives in Copan, OK needed hauled here to Terre Haute, IN about 550 miles. Don't feel like trying out a uhaul, which could do it, but not according to uhaul. Nor giving up a weekend to do it. Just wondering if anyone knew of anyone that does this type of thing, or would be out that way and coming back east empty? Thanks.

I do some private hauling for people now and then, but in order for it to be worthwhile with current fuel prices id probably have to get like $1. 00 per loaded mile, maybe a bit less. That seems kinda high, but even the big haulers are chargin more per-load now too. These GWB fuel prices are killin.

Thats cheap, lucky you do not do it for a living and have to have cargo insurance, usdot #, and all that fun stuff. I contract to carrier that pays all ins, plate, tolls, etc and I get 1. 04 a mile!! Gave up the side stuff, not worth the risk in todays sue happy world! Not to mention the dot lookin fot ya.

Just book a flight there and drive it back. I spent $130 for a round trip ticket to Ok and drove my 01. 5 back to Ohio in 12 hours. WELL worth the money to just drive it. One day spent. Left at 6 AM and got home at 5 AM.

Thanks, but never flown, prefer not to ever, and it has no bed or lights in rear and no mirrors so can't drive it back. I really need a trailer lol.

Jake wouldn't that be a long way for you just to get to it and then back North?

I told you I could prolly haul it but for what you want to pay I would need something to haul back south toward texas to help with fuel. You are a driver yourself you told me on the phone. You know what it costs to run a rig up and down the road. No sense in leaving home for a trip and coming back with the same amount of money in my pocket as I had when I left after I fill up with fuel, this isen't counting my time or wear and tear on the truck and trailer.

Well, if you would be willing to give up a day or two, I could do it Memorial Day wknd, charge ya for fuel and maybe a spin with the 16cm housing, no pun intended. I have access to a trailer that can handle it, and I have chains, boomers, etc.

Gimme a call.....

Daniel
