I have a 96 with a five speed four wheel drive and it has only 103,000 miles. It has a cold air intake and 6" stacks. I put the 10 fuel plate, gov springs, and the afc spring and the fuel plate is all the way forward. Im not sure what the outcome should be. The truck runs great but my boost guage only goes to 35 and when i get on it it goes past that allmost back to the pin at 0. I dont stay in it and i dont let it go past 30, and i might slide the plate back some. It kinda makes it frustrating to drive cause the boost builds so fast and so high under heavy acceleration in 4 and 5 gear that i have to back off and really watch the boost guage instead of the others. Is that normal boost for the mods and what can the truck handle. I dont want to blow anything up. Any and all info on any of this would be appreciated

On a 215 truck a # 10 should have an upgraded turbo even with the plate in the stock position... ... ... ... ... . Your turbo is undersized for what you are doing

You can get by with the stock turbo but your gonaa have to "detune" it pull the plate back and adjust the afc andw astegate to keep the boost below 35. even then you will have high EGT's under full throttle. Bigger turbo is on my to do list but if you keep an eye on everthing you will not blow it up

I bet you do. I know I have had a few how did that gauge get up that high moments:eek: I got it detuned to the level that if the pedal aint to the medal its ok. I also tow only rarely so I get by. Those towing on a regular basis or cant keep there foot out of it will probably know you and your whole family on a first name basis:-laf

The plate kit should have come with a boost elbow that will keep the boost to around 35-38 psi which should be OK with the stock turbo. . However with your addons the clutch will be crying for mercy. .

There's also an adjustment on the wastegate actuator.

35 is about it with the stock turbo.

Mine:

98 12valve 5spd (Qcab 4X4), #10 plate, 3kgs, open exhaust, BHAF, ddp stage III injectors, boost set to 38psi (stock turbo), SouthBend 13"conOFE clutch, 5" lift on 35" BFG M/T's and BD exhaust brake.

Yes, I have hit 41 psi boost, I tow quite often and relatively heavy with-out issues (EGT's good), and have run the truck in this configuration now for 6 years @ 125k miles.

And, I agree with Bob 4X4, turbo upgrade is a must (working on that for years with the "war department").

Lil' Dog is also very correct with the clutch comments, 3 clutches in 1 year until I switched to a SouthBend (via recomendations on TDR ::D).

Would like to go to a BD Super B or Super B Special and DDP Stage 4's :D, but have not found much info from users as to performance or satisfaction on the turbo's.

My 2 bits,

My setup is the Super B, DDPII's, 3k gov's, otherwise, basically stock. Really like the way it performs towing. Hauls butt empty. Economy has not suffered at all and can keep EGT's in check with the right foot. Huge improvement over stock turbo, sticks, etc. Usually tow below 30 psi. I'm at 200k now and want it to last a lot longer.
