Who has a #10 plate a set of higher horse power injectors and towing travel trailers and other loads? Where do you have the fuel plate set? Do you have the AFC set full forward and no spring tension or do you have some smoke control? I have the #10 plate set forward of center a set of DDP stage 2 inj. and the AFC back alittle from full forward and the spring adjusted for smoke control. I just got back from mowing the 5 acres that belongs to the church with my tractor and I noticed that to keep from bogging and waiting to build boost after going into 4thgear I really need to keep the rpm's high and shift quick. Does this seem normal or do I have the spring on the AFC set to tight? I know I am in need of a better breathing turbo to help keep the egt's down. Do I need to back the plate some? Would like to here what you have done.

TIA

The AFC is a fine tuning adjustment.

I find it best to move it 10 or 20 clicks at a time one way or the other and then go for a test drive.

Or just loosen it up and use your right foot...

With my combo i run the AFC a bit on the tight side of full loose.

It helps me keep the transmission from breaking and increases fuel milage.

I run my afc somewhat loose also, and just use my foot to control it while towing.

I still use the 215 spring though, I dont like the lighter ones from TST.

My 10 is about . 030 foward from stock right now. but I also tow with the 0 frequently. Just use your foot less. .

Hey guys thanks for the responses. Well this evening I pulled everything apart and reset the plate to . 030 in front of center ( towards front of motor) and then I put the 215 spring back in. While having the AFC apart I ran the spring adj. gear full forward then backed off 15 clicks. After everything was put back together I went for a drive and the motor felt better, probably due to not putting as much fuel in and not having enough turbo, but I was seeing alittle more smoke than what I like to see. Well I pulled the plug and checked to see how much slack there was between the adj. gear and then spring and as you already know the answer there was a lot. So I adjusted to the point to where there was just a little free movement of the spring. Still felt good but I will try some more adjusting of the AFC to get it where I like it.

Have a great evening.
